“The Dunedins approach the score with a scholarly angle…but it’s the heart rather than the head that informs their music making.” – BBC Music Magazine
Bearing the ancient Celtic name for Edinburgh Castle, Din Eidyn, Dunedin Consort is an early music group on a mission — to blend historical authenticity in early music with new musical expression. Through performances at BBC Proms, Wigmore Hall, Edinburgh and Lammermuir festivals, and numerous albums, their work under Artistic Director John Butt has garnered two Gramophone Awards and a GRAMMY nomination. The 22-person ensemble brings their critically acclaimed performance of J.S. Bach’s masterpiece, St John Passion, to Mandel Hall. Click for a sneak peek of what you’ll hear at the performance.
