Research

The Nicholson Center’s generous program of Student Fellowships and Grants lies at the heart of our mission to encourage and sustain the best new work in British Studies (including British empire and the legacies of empire). We support Masters students through scholarships and prizes. The Nicholson BA Thesis Prize is awarded annually for the best student thesis on a British Studies topic.

Fellowships, Grants and Prizes

The program of fellowships, grants and prizes includes travel grants for graduates and undergraduates to carry out research in the British Isles and Ireland and grants to support the digitization of research materials held there. We also invite graduates to submit applications for support for research initiatives on campus, such as reading groups and workshops, particularly when these bring together students from different disciplines.
