2/23, 12-5pm, Decolonizing and Indigenizing Archives Workshop

Please join the English Department on Friday, February 23 for an afternoon workshop on decolonizing and indigenizing archives of the nineteenth century.  This workshop aims to provide an opportunity for researchers to present and discuss works-in-progress related to the study of colonial and/or indigenous archives whilst unpacking and questioning the provenance and rationale behind curatorial practices that originally shaped them, as well as looking into the present day politics of accessibility and maintenance of these spaces.
Below, please see the event flier for more details and a full list of invited speakers, which includes Sukanya Banerjee from UC Berkeley and Toral Gajarawala from NYU. The workshop will be in Stuart Hall 020 from 12 pm to 5 pm. Lunch will be provided at noon, as well as light refreshments during a break at 3 pm.
This workshop has been funded by the Department of English and The Nicholson Center for British Studies, University of Chicago. The event is free and open for all.
